FPC Term 3 Parent Event – Friendship Smart with Michelle Mitchell

at Nagle College, 58a Orwell St, Blacktown NSW 2148, Australia

Dear Parents and Carers

Friendships can bring children great happiness, but they can also be difficult.

Children may feel left out, lose a friend, have an argument, or struggle to know where they belong. It can be hard for parents to know when to step in, what to say, or how to help.

Join the Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) Family Partnership Council (FPC) for Friendship Smart, a practical parent session with parenting author and educatorMichelle Mitchell.

Michelle has worked with children and families for more than 30 years. She is a former teacher and the author of 10 parenting books. She is known for giving parents clear, practical advice that also respects what children are feeling.

In this session, Michelle will help parents understand:

  • how children’s friendships change as they grow

  • why friendship problems happen

  • how to talk with children about friendship worries

  • how to help children manage conflict, change, and feeling left out

  • how to teach children to be caring, fair, and supportive friends

  • how technology, loneliness, and other pressures can affect friendships.

Parents and carers will leave with simple ideas they can use at home.

This session will be most helpful for parents and carers of older Primary school and Secondary school children.
